Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 as the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is from the fourth generation of Roberts family who lived in Atlanta. It began with her great grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was farmer. Her father was interested in theatre at an early stage. As a student in Emory University he appeared in numerous productions at and off the campus. In 1953, he joined the Air Force and while stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. They married in 1955. Their first son, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter as well as his spouse quit their Air Force service in, when they enrolled Walter at Tulane University. Walter began his work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou began producing a children's TV show in Decatur, Georgia called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show their own. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou established The Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted 6 years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) and Julia (also known as Julie) at the time.
