
Allison Brooks Janney (born November 19th, 1959)[2] is an American actor. In a career spanning thirty years, she's well-known for her performance across diverse genres on screen and the stage. Janney won numerous honors, such as the Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Her work has also received seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney was also nominated to the two Tony Awards. She was born in Boston and born in Dayton, Ohio, Janney was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following having graduated from Kenyon College. Janney was credited for several small and infrequent television and film appearances over the years. Her most famous part as C. J. Cregg on NBC's The West Wing (1999-2006) was the basis for five Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2014, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding guest actor in Drama Series due to her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex. She was best known for her character Bonnie Plunkett.
